What is machine learning? A general (informal) definition goes as follows: an algorithm is a machine learning algorithm if it improves its behaviour as it accumulates experience. What does it mean? It means that the algorithm learns either on previously prepared test examples or on its own errors and solves the problem better and better with time. Some machine learning algorithms are able to spot previously unknown patterns and dependencies in data, extract knowledge (also a subject of artificial intelligence), in short, do what has for a long time been considered the prerogative of human beings. In this course, we consider the main apparata and algorithms of machine learning in detail.
